Code of Conduct

The Google Student Ambassador (GSA) Program at IIT Patna is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or technical experience.

This Code of Conduct applies to all our spaces—including both on-campus physical events at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna and off-campus/virtual hybrid events, as well as our official online communication channels.

1. Expected Behavior

We expect all participants, speakers, sponsors, and core team members to abide by this Code of Conduct. Please ensure that you:

• Be respectful and welcoming: Treat everyone with kindness and empathy. Use welcoming and inclusive language.
• Be collaborative: We are a student community focused on learning and building. Share knowledge, help others, and remain open to differing viewpoints.
• Look out for each other: If you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct, please alert the core team immediately.

2. Unacceptable Behavior

Harassment and discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated in any form. Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:

• Offensive, derogatory, or discriminatory comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, or religion.
• Inappropriate use of nudity, sexual images, or explicit language in public spaces, presentations, or project submissions.
• Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following (online or in person).
• Harassing photography or recording.
• Sustained disruption of talks, workshops, or other events.
• Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention.
• Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

3. Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Participants asked to stop any harassing or unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the GSA IIT Patna core team may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including:

• A formal warning to cease the behavior.
• Expulsion from the event, workshop, or hackathon without refund (if applicable) or certificate of participation.
• A permanent ban from all future GSA IIT Patna events.
• Reporting the incident to IIT Patna administration or campus security if it violates institute policies.

4. Reporting Guidelines

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns regarding the behavior of our community members, please contact us immediately.

You can report incidents by:

• Reaching out directly to any core team member or volunteer present at a physical event.
• Emailing the core team at gsa.iitp@gmail.com. We monitor this inbox closely and treat all reports confidentially.

Our team will be happy to help participants contact campus security, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.

By registering for our events, joining our community platforms, or participating in our hybrid programs, you agree to adhere to this Code of Conduct. We appreciate your help in making GSA IIT Patna a welcoming and friendly community for all.
